CITIES OF OLD DESIGN

“Cities of Old Design” is a series of photographs that explores architectural detail in historic downtowns throughout southeastern Michigan. Cities such as Detroit, Lansing, and Marshall are featured throughout. This series represents structures which were once modern marvels that have since descended into relics of a bygone era. Aged beyond their years, these residential masterpieces and their inherent beauty are often forgotten. “Cities of Old Design” illustrates the stunning craftsmanship of the past, without shying away from the cracks and patina that come with old age, showcasing selective elements of the architecture such as brickwork, doors, moldings, and windows. These older structures are not unlike revered works of art from generations past, bringing form and deeper meaning to our heritage, our memories, and ourselves.
